2023 Fall Leaf Peeping Trip – Part 3

Crossing the Delaware River

OK, let’s continue our search for Fall colors. Time to cross the Delaware River into Pennsylvania!

We continue driving through the Delaware Water Gap area, which is a big swath of beautiful mountains, hiking trails, water sports areas, and campgrounds surrounding the Delaware River area in northeast Pennsylvania bordering New Jersey. Look how pretty!

There are tons of things to do in this region. For now, we decided to stop at the Dingsmans Falls Visitor Center. Note, the Visitors Center building is already closed for the season but that’s the name you can put into Google Maps for directions here. You can still see the waterfalls though.

There is a cool half-mile paved and accessible walking path to the falls not too far from the parking lot, enclosed in a shady wooded area. The leaves were raining down on us with every slight breeze so this was probably the last few days for them. It was beautiful though.

As we start on the path, we were greeted by a peaceful stream that weaves on farther down our path later too. I love these pictures of it!

Then, after the first bend, we start to hear the sounds of our first waterfall. This is a tall but narrow one. Cute!

Let’s continue on the path. I keep trying to take pics of the leaves falling but it’s actually hard to catch them fast enough without the pics getting blurry. LoL

Finally, we get near the end of the path and hear the rushing sounds of Dingsmans Falls. This is much bigger than the first waterfall. In fact, it was way bigger and louder in person than it looks in these pictures. What a gorgeous setting too! It was a beautiful finale to our leisurely scenic walk through the woods.

After snapping a bunch of pics, we head back out on the same path. Of course, snapping more pics along the way too.

That was a fun stop! On the way out, we passed by this cute little stream too. Actually, it might be a part of the same one we saw before, now snaking all the way out at the end of the Dingsmans Falls area.

Now, let’s drive through the Poconos!

We decided to stop at Lake Nockamixon in Nockamixon State Park next. It was down a small winding local road but the reward was worth it. Look how gorgeous! Great stop for a quick picnic.

OK, let’s drive through more of the Poconos. Here are some shots of an especially bright spot of color.

So, that’s it for our leaf peeping this year. Most of the leaves are past peak now from the Northeast states. We found some beautiful spots though and will definitely do more next year.

Good night! I hope you had fun following along.

Next, we’ll start on posts for our cross-country trip. Hope you can join us for that too!
