2023 December Disney Cruise

Disney Wish Grand Atrium

Guess what? We’re sailing on the newest ship, the Disney Wish! Isn’t she gorgeous!?!

We set sail the day after Christmas. On the first day, we explored the ship, ate a lot, and did a bunch of fun activities!

Day 2 was our Nassau port day but we stayed on the ship to enjoy all the great amenities. We also had a delicious brunch at Palo, the adults specialty restaurant, saw a bunch of characters, and capped the night off with the only fireworks at sea for Pirate Night.

Today is our Castaway Cay port day, at Disney’s beautiful private island. It’s our favorite Bahamian port. Perfect white sand beaches, BBQ lunch provided by the ship, and lots of fun activities. It was a little drizzly but we still had fun. A rainy day at Castaway Cay is still better than a sunny day back home!

What’s better than a Disney cruise?

Doing two cruises in a row back to back! You get to be the last group off the first cruise and first group back on the second cruise to a practically empty ship!

Besides, a 3-day cruise was way too short! You barely get to settle in before you have to pack up again. Even though we’ve sailed on a Disney cruise before, there were still tons of activities that we didn’t have time to do. I can’t imagine how rushed and unsettling it would be for a newbie. I think it would give you a false sense of how great a cruise vacation could be, especially a Disney one, since you won’t have time to enjoy all the amenities and notice as much of the Disney difference.

I suggest at the very least doing a 4-day cruise as your first one if you really need to “test the waters” first, but ideally, do a 7-day, or two short ones (3-day & 4-day) Back2Back like we’re doing this time.

If you can manage to book the same cabin, you don’t even need to repack between cruises. Just leave everything in there and you’re already settled in for the second cruise.

We just had to take our passports and disembark for about 1.5 hours to go thru Customs again and they let us back on first to a practically empty ship! There were about 15-20 other families doing Back2Backs.

Glorious! The Christmas decorations were still up too, so we get to see them thru this sailing as well! We enjoyed lunch at Arandelle, the Frozen themed restaurant.

We then had the most incredible sunset to kick off part 2 of our holiday cruise adventure!

How about celebrating New Year’s on a Disney Cruise?

I’ll post more pics on my Instagram (adventures_by_anne), so follow along there too. I’m sure I’ll have too many to post them all here.
