Day 6 – Magic Kingdom, Disney Springs, & EPCOT

Magic Kingdom

Alas, today is the last full day of our trip…

We decided to get an early start and try to rope drop Magic Kingdom again, and do as many things in as many parks as we can today! One final hurrah!

As you can see, it was not very crowded yet, and we were able to do Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain right away. Definitely get here early if you want to do the big mountain rides.

We are also greeted by the Dapper Dans, the barbershop quartet, singing along Main Street on the trolley as we walked in.

The characters were also out in full force today! We saw almost all of the princesses and Mickey n friends at the train station balcony! Cinderella’s stepsisters were having a little friendly banter behind the castle. They’re always hilarious! Pooh n friends and the Three Caballeros and Goofy also rode through in their cavalcades. One of the country bears was also hanging out on his balcony! Since they’re not doing personal character meet and greets still, this is how they have the characters appear throughout the park at random times of the day for your photo ops. It’s always fun to see them around!

Of course, we also had to have some more dole whips and other snacks.

We also rode some rides and soaked in the atmosphere before heading out by early afternoon.

Take one last look at the Magic Kingdom as we ride past in the monorail on our way to the Grand Floridian resort. Bye, Magic Kingdom!

We wanted to go do a little exploring at the Grand Floridian. It’s themed in a grand, Victorian style and we always love to check it out. This is one of the deluxe resorts so it’s pretty pricey, but we like to come here to visit at least. There are several nice restaurants here too. In fact, we were planning to come grab a quick light lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe, but unfortunately we got here just a few minutes after their lunch hours ended. We’ll have to try again next time.

However, as luck would have it, while we were walking away from the restaurant, we ran into one of our favorite vloggers, Michael Kay! That was an awesome surprise to be able to meet him! He was super friendly. We love watching his videos to get our Disney fix whenever we’re not here.

This resort is especially beautiful around Christmas time when they have a huge Christmas tree and gingerbread house on the main floor. If you’re here around mid-November thru very early January, definitely try to visit this resort and take a look for yourself. In fact, many of the resorts decorate elaborately for the holidays, so try to visit them even if you’re not staying there. They’re incredible!

Once we were done wandering around The Grand Floridian, we took the bus down to Disney Springs for some final souvenir shopping and snacking there. Holy cow! That brisket at Polite Pig! Get it! And that peanut butter explosion donut from Everglazed, a new donut shop, was amazing and huge! We shared one between the four of us and still didn’t finish it. Breakfast for tomorrow!

We also had a dinner reservation at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’, that we had rescheduled from our change of plans a few days ago. We’ve heard good things about this restaurant online, so we really wanted to try it. They’re famous for their fried chicken and biscuits, so of course, we got that, along with their mac and cheese, deviled eggs, and a few other small bites to share. They were all delicious!

By the time we were done with dinner here, the Friday night crowds were starting to pile into Disney Springs. It was jammed-packed everywhere! Avoid the weekends here.

So, we decided to take the bus over to the Beach Club to walk over to EPCOT. The buses from here do not go directly to parks so you have to go to the nearest resort instead. We have to cap off our last night at EPCOT, as usual!

We did another leisurely loop around the countries, soaking in the atmosphere, and checking out the amazing topiaries from the Flower and Garden Festival. Once the crowds thinned out a bit in the evening, we did a few rides with short waits again as well.

This has been a jammed-packed day, but a good end to our week. We’ve done so much during this trip, but amazingly, there are still many things left to do. There’s just so much fun to be had at all the parks and resorts! We’ll save some for our next trip. We had an amazing time and it was just a good relief to be back here!

Alas, we closed down the park again and sadly head back to pack.
