Kolob Canyons – Zion National Park

National Park Week 2025

Most people may have heard of Zion National Park, but many may not know about the Kolob Canyons district of Zion. To kick off National Park Week 2025, let’s visit Kolob Canyons!

Kolob Canyons is about one hour northwest of the main Zion entrance in southwest Utah. It has a five-mile scenic drive with great views of towering red rock canyons and access to several hiking trails. Since this area of Zion is somewhat more remote, visitors often miss it. If you’re looking for a serene drive or hike with fewer crowds, Kolob Canyons is your hidden gem. It’s a good stop in addition to your visit to the central part of Zion National Park.

National Park Week 2025

National Park Week Day 7 – Bryce Canyon National Park

To cap off the National Park Week series, we’re going to one of my all-time favorite parks!

We fell in love with Bryce Canyon during a tour of Southwest National Parks about 25 years ago and have been back several times since. I still remember waking up early to catch the sunrise and staying late to watch the sunset, seeing the amazingly vivid orange-red colors as the sunlight shined against the vast hoodoo formations. We also did a hike down to the canyon floor and across the canyon, walking amongst those mesmerizing hoodoos. I remember looking up at them in amazement! That is still one of the most favorite things I’ve ever done.

Come join us at Bryce Canyon National Park!
